NCDHHS releases plan, dashboard updates for next phase of COVID-19 resp

On June 3, the Moore County Health Department was notified of the death of a Moore County resident whose death was determined to be related to COVID-19 infection. The individual passed away on June 2.

Wednesday’s reported death brings Moore County’s total to eleven deaths that have been attributed to COVID-19 thus far. In total, there have been 238 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Moore County to date.

To protect privacy, no further information about the individuals who have tested positive will be shared by the Health Department. Moore County Health Department staff are monitoring individuals who have tested positive and will follow up with anyone who is identified as a close contact.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) defines “close contact” as being within six feet for 10 minutes or more.

Although Governor Roy Cooper’s Executive Order 141 and phased plan may ease some of the previous restrictions regarding COVID-19, the Moore County Health Department and North Carolina Department of Health & Human Services (NCDHHS) encourage everyone to “Know Their W’s” and continue to exercise caution when out in public:

Wear a cloth face covering if you will be around other people
Wait six feet apart and avoid close contact
Wash your hands often for at least 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer

In addition to these measures, everyone is urged to continue to adhere to the following guidelines:

Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
Stay home, especially if you are sick.
Cover your cough or sneeze with your sleeve/elbow or with a tissue and be sure to throw the tissue in the trash.
Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.

Instructions on how to create and wear your own cloth face covering can be found here: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/downloads/DIY-cloth-face-covering-instructions.pdf
