Janine Hepler, FNP-BC, will join the team at FirstHealth Family Medicine-Vass on Jan. 2, 2020.

As a certified family nurse practitioner, Hepler will be responsible for diagnosing and treating adult and pediatric patients for a wide variety of ailments – from the common cold to flu and chronic conditions such as diabetes. She joins the team in Vass following the departure of Kathleen Prussian, who will leave FirstHealth Dec. 31, 2019.

A native of the Sandhills, Hepler said she’s excited to join FirstHealth of the Carolinas.

“This is home. We came to FirstHealth for our health care because we believed in what they provided,” Hepler said. “To be a part of the team in Vass is a great opportunity.”

Hepler earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke in 2007 and completed her master of science in nursing at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2015.

“I was in nursing for 25 years and always dreamed of going back to get my practitioner’s license,” Hepler said. “When the door opened at UNC, I took it.”

Prior to joining FirstHealth, she was a family nurse practitioner at Womack Army Medical Center at Fort Bragg.

When she’s not caring for patients, Hepler said she enjoys spending time with her children and grandchildren. She and her husband are also active members of the worship team at their church in Carthage.
