Dora Morgan Sheffield 96, passed away Sunday, January 14, 2018, at her home, surrounded by her family.  

Funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at Pleasant View Friends Church, with the Reverend Quint Dunlap and Reverend Jacelyn Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 12:30 and at other times at the home of her daughter, Iris.    

Dora was a native of Moore County. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother.  Dora always loved and was loved by babies, she cared for many of her grandchildren and other children in the community. Having a large family made gardening, cooking, and canning a necessity.  She loved doing all those things, and making great “cathead” biscuits. Dora made a quilt for every child and grandchild in the family.  In later years she enjoyed jigsaw and find-a-word puzzles. Time spent with her family and friends brought joy to her heart. Dora was a daughter of the late  David Newton and Bertie Sanders Morgan and was preceded in death by husband Elder Ree Sheffield;  daughter: Esther S. Lineberry; sons: Jerry, Roger, Redell, and Cecil Sheffield; sisters: Ella Jane Morgan, Gladys Sanders, Mamie Morgan, Ruby Morgan, Gracie Morgan, Dossie Mae Williams; brother: Benjamin Zeb Morgan  

Dora is survived by children:  Doris York, of Ramseur, Iris Lambert, of Robbins, Joyce Hurley and husband Worth, of Asheboro, Floyd Sheffield and wife Sheila, of Robbins, Irene Davis and husband Ed, of Star; 31 grandchildren; 65 great-grandchildren; 34 great-great grandchildren; sister: Betty Fay Morgan; sister in law: Dorothy Maness; many nieces, nephews and friends.

The family would like to thank special caregivers Angie Jordan, Tammy Sheffield and all the staff of FirstHealth Hospice.
