Obituary David Jones Jr. Southern Pines

David Jones Jr., 71, of Southern Pines, North Carolina was born in Hoffman, North Carolina on July 20, 1949 to Eula Mae (Jones) Melton and the late David Jones Sr.  He departed this earthly life on December 1, 2020 at his home in Southern Pines, North Carolina.

David Jones, Jr. graduated from West Southern Pines High School. He was retired from the State ABC Board where he was the General Manager of the stores within Moore County.  He started as a Clerk and worked his way up to Warehouse Manager and eventually became the first African- American to become General Manager in Moore County.  He was a member of the Southern Pines Men’s Services Club where he participated in numerous charitable events and fundraisers. He was a loving father, son, brother and friend that was always outgoing and outspoken. He was strong, protective and hard-working.

His hobbies included fishing, playing cards, restoring old cars, and being social with his friends; Mack, Greg, Ralph and Frolin. He loved to cook and more importantly, he loved to eat. He enjoyed watching his favorite teams, the San Francisco 49ers and Duke Blue Devils. He loved nice clothes and shoes and was always a sharp dresser.

He is survived by his mother, Eula Mae Melton; his sons David III, Quinton and Neal; his daughter, Tera; his brothers, Herman and Charles; his sisters, Gwendolyn, Debra and Veronica; a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and friends.

A walk-through visitation will be held 1:00 – 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 5, 2020 at Christ’s Way Community Church US 15-501, Aberdeen, North Carolina. All attendees must wear face coverings.
