Donald Frederick Williams, 73, of Whispering Pines, NC, passed suddenly at his home on Thursday Oct. 26th.

Born in Clarksburg, WV on January 24th, 1950, he was the son of the late Robert and Olive Sutton Williams.  After his high school graduation in 1968 from Victory High School, Donald enlisted in the U.S. Army, a service that lasted 23 years. He proudly served as a member of the 82nd Airborne Division.  He earned the rank of Master Sergeant (E8) before his retirement from active duty in 1991. He was a proud 32nd Scottish Rite member of the Masonic Lodge in Ohio.

Donald was a kind, friendly and easy going man.  His smile would light up the whole room and he made you feel like you were the most important person. He made friends easily and enjoyed spending time sharing stories and telling tales with them.  His greatest however, were the times he spent with his wife, children and grandchildren.

Donald is survived by his wife of 54 years, Brenda J. Harris Williams.  He was the father of Robert Williams, and wife Ashley, Joleen Jumper, and husband Roger and Jennifer Foley, and husband Patrick.  Donald was the loving Papa of Jacob Taylor, Makalya Jane and step-grandson, Brandon Jumper.  He was preceded in death by Roberta Gladyz, his sister.

The family will receive friends at the Boles Funeral Home, 425 W. Pennsylvania Ave. Southern Pines on Sunday, Nov. 12th from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm.  A graveside service with military honors will be held at the Sandhills State Veterans’ Cemetery, 8220 Bragg Blvd. Spring Lake on Monday, Nov 13th promptly at 2:00 in the afternoon.
