Ingeborg Bertha Mayer Bernhardt, 92 of Pinehurst passed on Wednesday, May 6, 2020 at her residence.

Ingeborg was born May 7, 1927 in Mannheim, Germany to the late Karl Hennrich Mayer and Bertl Stein Mayer. She attended nursing school in Germany and worked as a nurse during WWII. She met and married August E. Bernhardt during his deployment in Germany during the war. August returned to New Jersey after serving with Ingeborg by his side in 1947 where they lived until His passing. She moved to Hilton Head North Carolina in 1986. She worked for the Tennis Club of Hilton Head and also the West Orange Tennis Club. In 2001 she made Pinehurst her home where she enjoyed playing Tennis.
She was preceded in death by her husband August E. Bernhardt who passed March 30, 1985.
She is survived by her son, Peter Bernhardt of Pinehurst and a daughter, Ingrid Bernhardt also of Pinehurst.
Memorial donations can be made in her memory to the American Red Cross or the Humane Society.
