Laddie J. Stewart was born March 12, 1926 in Kosic, Czechoslovakia and passed away May 5, 2020 in Southern Pines, NC.
He arrived in America on March 17, 1930 with his mother and brother on the ship USS Stuttgart from Bremen, Germany.
He became a Naturalized Citizen in 1944 and entered the US Army.
He was proud of his new country and served it well in WWII and was a POW in Germany.
He later worked for the U.S. Agency for International Development and while serving in Vietnam he met a pretty young lady from North Carolina. Later their paths crossed again while they were stationed in Nigeria. They started courting, fell in love and were married there.
He is survived by his wife of 48years, Josephine McDaniel Stewart.
He was predeceased by his mother, Katherine, his father George, who died when he was just 10 months old and an older brother, Frank. Also surviving is a first cousin, George Seminsky of California.
