Martha Boehm Kusek died Sunday, October 6, in Southern Pines, North Carolina.  Martha, who was ninety-eight, grew up in Nebraska, then left for Washington, DC, where she later became the secretary for Nebraska Senators Hugh Butler and Roman Hruska.  While there, she met and married Laurence Kusek, an aide to a Chicago Congressman; their differing party affiliations resulted in much teasing but did not interfere with their long and devoted marriage.  They lived in the Chicago suburb of Park Ridge, enjoyed weekends at their cabin in Glenn, Michigan, later relocating there, and eventually moved to Pinehurst, North Carolina.

Martha was predeceased by her husband Larry and her sister Kathern Boehm Winslow of Minneapolis.  She is survived by Kathern’s daughters Mary Miller of Los Angeles, CA and Caroline Winslow of Woodbury, MN as well as many loving nieces and nephews from Larry’s family.  Burial will be in Columbus, Nebraska at a later date. For information, call Caroline Winslow at 651-261-4219.
