Sara Ann Cassidy Hartsell, 78, of Aberdeen died early Friday at her home surrounded by family.

She was a native of Everett, MA moving to the Moore County area in 1960. 

She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years Winfred McDonald Hartsell, her parents Thomas and Janet Rea Cassidy, son’s Bryan and Mark Hartsell. 

Sara retired as a bookkeeper working in the education system. She enjoyed reading, shopping and crochet and was a longtime member of McDonalds Chapel Presbyterian Church. Sara enjoyed letting friends know she was of first generation Irish descent.

Surviving is a son Robert (Rob) Hartsell (Jill) of the home, sister Carolyn Cassidy of Ipswich, MA., grandchildren Jenay Young, Elizabeth Hartsell, James Hartsell and one great grandchild Ayla Young.

A memorial service to celebrate Sara’s life will be held at 1 PM Saturday April 7 at McDonalds Chapel Presbyterian Church, 1374 Foxfire Road, Aberdeen with Dr. Robert Whitehouse officiating. A private family burial will be held at a later date.

The family suggest in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 3800 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC 28215
