Ret. Lt. Col. Stephen Michael Blanchard passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, November 25, 2018 with his family by his side.

A private family Graveside Service will be held at Cameron Community Cemetery with full Military Honors.

Steve was born in Rochester, New York on May 12, 1945, to Edwin and Eleanor Harvey Blanchard. Steve was raised in North Carolina and graduated from Cary High School. He always called North Carolina home. Steve served in the U.S. Air Force and Kansas Air National Guard and retired after 23 years. He was also a Vietnam Veteran. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his loving wife Kay Carlyle Blanchard; children, Stephen Blanchard, Jr. (Laura) of Kansas, Shannon Kleweno (Mark) of Kansas, Matthew Eakes (Lisa) of Florida, Mark Eakes (Janet) of North Carolina; sister, Carolyn Cochran of Illinois; brother, Jeffrey Blanchard of North Carolina; grandchildren, Gunner Blanchard, Gavin Blanchard, Braiden Blanchard, Chandler Eakes, Cameron Eakes, Ella Eakes; and special auntie Alice Leighton.

He was preceded in death by his parents Edwin and Eleanor Harvey Blanchard.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to FirstHealth Hospice Foundation, 150 Applecross Road, Pinehurst, NC 28374.
