For more than 30 years running, Prancing Horse is “delighted” once again to host its annual Fall Horse Farm Tour on Sunday, Oct. 18, to benefit the therapeutic horsemanship program serving children, adults, and veterans who benefit from the emotional health, social growth, and physical strength gained through their connection with horses.
The Horse Farm Tour is a self-guided tour featuring four of the area’s nearby equestrian facilities in the Sandhills horse country. Farm tour guests will see a variety of working farms and meet a host of farm owners and staff who will guide them through various equestrian experiences.
“Once again, we at Prancing Horse are excited to host our time-honored tradition of the annual Farm Tour event,” states Cindy Strohm, president of the board of directors of Prancing Horse. “For years, our guests have enjoyed a wonderful day touring farms and seeing beautiful horses.”
“It’s a unique way to experience the interesting aspects of our surrounding horse country that many residents never get to see.”
Included among the participating farms this year:
• A 30-acre therapeutic equestrian center with a 40-year history of bringing people and horses together in a peaceful Sandhills setting. The farm is home to a beloved herd, experienced staff, dedicated volunteers, and programs designed to strengthen participants’ confidence, communication, and connection through both mounted and unmounted activities.
• A multifaceted farm sitting on 175 acres of lush land, a labor of love for the owner who was able to build his dream facility after years of loving horses. The farm includes training areas, a cross-country course, an indoor arena, and a galloping track, all operated by a longtime staff.
• A one-of-a-kind, all-inclusive sports therapy and rehabilitation facility that has been changing lives through the power of horses since 2003. Horse care is administered by a staff of experienced industry professionals.
• A farm on 2,000 acres with a history dating back to the 1940s. The owners will detail its years filled with tremendous success and tragedy. The expansive farm is owned by a family originally from Massachusetts.
The Farm Tour event is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Advance tickets are $30 each and may be purchased through ticketmesandhills.com. Tickets sold at the event will be $35. Children under 12 will be admitted for free.
Proceeds will go toward Prancing Horse herd management, facility enhancement, and program expansion. Detailed farm tour guides will be distributed at each participating farm. Lunch may be purchased at the Prancing Horse Farm.
