Nettie Jones Cooper, age 88, of Cameron, passed away on Friday, February 9, 2018 at FirstHealth Hospice House in Pinehurst, surrounded by her loving family.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, February 12, 2018 at Cameron Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jared McNeill, Pastor Lee McKinney and Pastor John Brown officiating. The body will be present for viewing one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in Cameron Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the burial in the church fellowship hall.
Nettie was born in Lee County on July 2, 1929 to Bert and Margaret Jones. She was a life long member of Cameron Baptist Church. She enjoyed working in her flower garden and spending time with her family. Nettie was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her husband of 70 years, L. Nelson Cooper, Sr.; children, Lewis Cooper, Jr. and wife Susan of Southern Pines, Jean McInnis and husband Dick of Raleigh, Phyllis Cooper Magnuson Thomas and husband Ted of Cameron; sister, Agnes Yow of Sanford; brothers, Larry, Clayton and Layton Jones; grandchildren, Jessica, Lauren, Graham, Erin, Caryn, Leanne, Emily and John Michael; great-grandchildren, Aiden, Cooper, Hallie, Maddox, Lilly, Reese and Wren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bert and Margaret Jones; sisters, Carolyn Garner and Frances Simpson; brothers, Robert and Bert Jones.
