Daisy M. Cameron, born on September 3, 1932, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2024, at the age of 92. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, artist, and lifelong learner whose legacy will continue to inspire all who knew her.
Daisy’s early life was marked by challenges, but she met each one with resilience and grace. She attended Elon College, where she earned her degree in May of 1952. It was there, on a blind date, that she met the love of her life, Thomas Edwin Cameron. They married in October of 1954, beginning a marriage that would last for over 70 years. Together, they raised five children: Beth Baldwin (Larry) of Harkers Island, NC; Ann Behar (Mike) of Washington, NC; John Cameron (married to Maida Cameron) of Hickory, NC; and Sylvia Scott of Carthage, NC. Tom and Daisy have twelve grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Abigail Cameron.
Daisy was a passionate patron of the arts, excelling in painting and finding joy in creative expression as well as supporting and encouraging other artists. Daisy was active in the Presbyterian church wherever she lived, serving as a deacon, elder, Sunday school teacher, youth group advisor and President of the Women of the church. Daisy also enjoyed cooking for other people. Nothing brought her as much pleasure as having someone enjoy her home cooked meals. As a mother and grandmother, she imparted wisdom and life lessons that we still carry today. She was a remarkable woman who balanced strength and tenderness, instilling values of love, perseverance, and kindness in all of family.
Daisy is now at peace, free of pain, resting comfortably with her maker. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched.
We love you, Mom. Thank you for all the love you gave us.
