One dead, two airlifted in Aberdeen crash

One person is dead, and two people were airlifted to a trauma center after a wreck on Saturday. The crash occurred at the intersection of Highway 15-501 and Pee Dee Road in Aberdeen by Burney Hardware just before 11 a.m.

Troopers said a large commercial flatbed truck was heading into Aberdeen on 15-501 when the driver of a Kia SUV came through a stop sign and into the truck’s path. The impact sent the Kia off the road, and the truck ran off the left-hand side of the road and crashed into a large pine tree. The driver of the truck was pronounced dead at the scene.
