One transported after Sunday morning crash in Carthage

A two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Mt. Carmel Road and Old Carthage Road sent one person to the hospital Sunday morning. The crash occurred around 11:30 a.m. on the outskirts of Carthage.

According to authorities on scene, the crash occurred when a Mercedes traveling east on Old Carthage Road stopped at the intersection before attempting a left turn onto Mt. Carmel Road. A Ford F-150 traveling south on Mt. Carmel Road then struck the Mercedes mid-turn.

The driver of the Ford F-150 was transported to Moore Regional Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Old Carthage Road was temporarily diverted around the intersection while crews worked to clear the scene.

Responding units included Moore County EMS, the Moore County Sheriff’s Office, Eagle Springs Fire Department, and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
