Dozens of people participated in a patriotic flash mob Saturday at Lowe’s Home Improvement in Southern Pines.
At 9 a.m., a large group of citizens from Moore County and surrounding areas descended onto a lone man holding an American flag in front of Lowe’s.
Almost as if on cue, people began flooding out of their cars to quickly assemble and show their support for America. The group of people said a prayer for the nation, recited the Pledge of Allegiance and sang God Bless America. Then as quickly as they formed, they left.
The organizers were a group called Moore County Citizens for Freedom (MCCF).
According to the group’s Facebook page, the MCCF is “a network of non-partisan Moore County Citizens dedicated to the promotion of American values in Moore County NC through education and activism.”
At Saturday’s event, they were quick to say they are not a “mob,” and this was not a flash mob. This was a “patriotic lightning strike.” And just like lightning, you don’t know where it will strike next, but you can tell by how quickly you hear the thunder how close the strike is to your location.
