Pinehurst Police accepting applications for Citizens Academy

The Pinehurst Police Department is accepting applications for its next Citizens Academy, scheduled to begin Tuesday, Oct. 24.

The Citizens Academy is a four-day program designed to allow participants to informally interact with members of the department and the local criminal justice system.

The class meets Oct. 24 and 30, Nov. 7 and 14, from 6-7:30 p.m., at the Pinehurst Police Department at 420 Magnolia Road. There is no fee for participation.

“The Citizens Academy provides an opportunity for the community to get a first-hand view on the role an officer plays in the Village,” said Chief Glen Webb. “Our officers also get the opportunity to hear community concerns and how we can work together to ensure the safety of our Village.”

Interested participants can register online here or visit vopnc.org. Look for the Citizens Academy image at the top of the page (the images rotate).

Graduates will receive a certificate of completion and be eligible to apply for the C. O. P. (citizens on patrol) program.
