The quick thinking of a resident and a rapid response by several fire departments saved a home from being destroyed by a fire Sunday night. The fire, which was mainly contained to the kitchen area of the house, broke out just after 6 p.m. in the 300 block of Pine Hill Road in the Eastwood community.
According to authorities, the resident, who was reported to be home alone, closed the kitchen door as she evacuated, helping to contain the fire.Â
After arriving on scene, firefighters quickly extinguished the flames, limiting damage to smoke throughout the rest of the house.
No injuries were reported, and the Moore County Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
Pine Hill Road was closed at the scene while crews worked.
Responding units included Eastwood Fire Department, Carthage Fire Department, Southern Pines Fire Department, Pinehurst Fire Department, Moore County Sheriff’s Office, Moore County EMS, and Moore County Public Safety.
