Voters in Moore County will soon head to the polls for the March 3, 2026, primary elections, which will determine which candidates advance to the general election later in the year. Below is a comprehensive list of candidates who have filed to run for office, along with information voters need to know ahead of Election Day.
Know Before you Go
The Moore County primary election will be held Tuesday, March 3, 2026. Voters who wish to cast a ballot before Election Day may take advantage of early voting, which will run from Feb. 12 through Feb. 28.
Early voting will be available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. In addition, early voting will be open on Saturday, Feb. 21, and Saturday, Feb. 28, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Early voting will not be held on Sundays.
Early voting locations include the Moore County Agricultural Center in Carthage and the Aberdeen Recreation Station, located at 707 Pinehurst Ave. and 301 Lake Park Crossing in Aberdeen. Voters may cast an early ballot at any early voting location in the county, regardless of their precinct.
“If a candidate was unopposed, then they will go to the General Election and will not be seen in the Primary,” adds Towanna D. Dixon, director of the Moore County Board of Elections. “Those offices are the Sheriff, Register of Deeds, Commissioner Seat 1 and 5. There are also some other seats for the State and Congressional level that will go on to the November ballot as well.”
