Sheriff announces arrests in drug investigation

Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields announced two arrests after a drug investigation in Taylortown.    

“On February 20th, 2024, detectives with the Moore County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant in the 1400 block of Juniper Lake Road in Taylortown,” said Fields in a statement issued to Sandhills Sentinel. “During the investigation, detectives located fentanyl, cocaine, marijuana, and multiple items of drug paraphernalia. The executed search warrant was the conclusion of a drug investigation.”

Je’Core McKoy, 32, of Taylortown, was arrested on charges of trafficking in opium or heroin by possession, possession with intent to sell and deliver schedule II controlled substance, felony possession of schedule II controlled substance, possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, felony possession of cocaine, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, felony possession of marijuana, maintain a vehicle, dwelling, or place to keep a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana paraphernalia, and (2ct’s)-resisting a public officer.

McKoy was committed to the Moore County Detention Center under a 48-hour hold based on the recently enacted HB-813, which came into effect on Oct. 1, 2023. McKoy was given a district court date of March 14.

Kiara Henderson, 34, of Taylortown, was arrested on charges of felony possession of a schedule II-controlled substance, maintaining a vehicle, dwelling, or place to keep a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Henderson was committed to the Moore County Detention Center under a $12,500 secured bond with a district court date of March 14.

Defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
