Moore County Schools celebrated excellence across the district at the Board of Education’s Oct. 13 meeting, recognizing staff, support personnel and students who go above and beyond in their roles. During the ceremony, each honoree was praised for their dedication and service.
“At this evening’s MCS Board of Education meeting, we proudly recognized exceptional staff members and students from across the district,” said the Moore County Schools on its social media page. “From dedicated classroom teachers and support staff to inspiring students, these honorees truly embody what it means to Engage. Inspire. Succeed.”
According to the board, these recognitions celebrate the diverse contributions that make schools thrive.
Below is the full list of honorees recognized during the recent meeting, per the Moore County Board of Education:
Mary Kathryn Doll, West End Elementary School, Certified Staff
Ms. Doll is being celebrated for her exceptional contributions to the West End Elementary community. She has established a classroom culture that both supports and empowers students to take ownership of their learning. Her commitment to student success is evident in her daily instruction, and she further strengthens the school as a leader on the Guiding Coalition and School Improvement Teams. Ms. Doll consistently advocates for students’ needs, shares her expertise with colleagues, and helps the entire school community grow.
Teresa Krause, West End Elementary School, Support Staff
Mrs. Krause is recognized for her outstanding dedication and commitment to students at West End Elementary. Her strong work ethic and nurturing approach create a safe, supportive environment where all students can thrive. She never gives up on a child and is deeply committed to helping every student succeed, no matter the challenges. Mrs. Krause’s compassion and persistence have made her an invaluable member of the school community, and her impact is felt daily by both students and staff.
Taylor Murphy, West Pine Elementary School, Certified Staff
Mrs. Murphy, teacher of the Autism classroom at West Pine Elementary, provides students with academic support, social skill development, and behavioral strategies that promote lifelong success. She leads a team of five EC Teacher Assistants while mentoring two new EC Resource Teachers, modeling excellence and high expectations for her team. Mrs. Murphy is a tireless advocate for every child in the building and a trusted support for colleagues. Her professionalism, leadership, and unwavering dedication make her an extraordinary example of the very best in education.
Robert Kennedy, West Pine Elementary School, Support Staff
Mr. Kennedy serves as one of West Pine Elementary’s full-time custodians, maintaining both the building and its 13.42 acres of grounds with dedication and care. Known for his hard work, kindness, and positive attitude, he sets a strong example for others and is always ready to help. Mr. Kennedy willingly takes on difficult tasks and is admired for his calm and approachable nature. In addition to his custodial duties, he serves as a bus monitor for EC students, ensuring they are transported safely each day.
Melissa Sheppard, West Pine Middle School, Certified Staff
Mrs. Sheppard is an invaluable member of West Pine Middle School, serving as both a leader on the MTSS team and as the beginning teacher coordinator. She inspires students through her teaching and supports colleagues by offering guidance and encouragement. Her peers describe her as a teammate who brings joy and laughter, making each day brighter for those around her. Dedicated to fostering both academic and personal growth, Mrs. Sheppard’s positive impact is deeply felt throughout the school community.
Shelby Morgan, West Pine Middle School, Support Staff
Shelby Morgan has demonstrated outstanding service as a teacher assistant in the self-contained classroom at West Pine Middle. She brings patience, dedication, and compassion to her work, ensuring students feel supported and capable. Morgan builds meaningful relationships, encourages student growth, and consistently models kindness for those around her. A true team player, she collaborates closely with teachers and staff, always ready to lend a hand. Her positive spirit enriches the entire school, and her commitment leaves a lasting impact.
Imogen Aylward, Pinecrest High School student
Immy, a senior at Pinecrest High School, serves as one of the Drum Majors for the Marching Patriots. A talented musician, she plays clarinet, piano, alto and baritone saxophone, mellophone, and flute. She recently led the band at both Pinecrest BandFest and the West Johnston Compass Classic Marching Band Competition. Immy values the sense of friendship and community fostered through band and also excels academically, maintaining a 4.0 unweighted GPA while taking AP and Sandhills Community College courses. She plans to attend NC State University to pursue a degree in Chemical Engineering.
Tessa Hage, from West Pine Middle, led the meeting in the Pledge of Allegiance and delivered an incredible message of inspiration.
