Structure destroyed in Robbins after wood stove catches fire

A fire destroyed an outbuilding in Robbins on Friday night, but firefighters were able to prevent the flames from spreading to a nearby home.

Emergency crews were dispatched to the 1000 block of Spies Road around 7:30 p.m. following reports of a structure fire. Upon arrival, first responders found an outbuilding fully engulfed in flames.

According to authorities, the fire originated from a wood stove within the structure. The homeowners reportedly loaded the stove around 5 p.m., and approximately two and a half hours later, a neighbor called in to say it was on fire.

The intensity of the fire and its potential to threaten other structures led to the response of multiple engines and units to bring the situation under control. While the outbuilding was a total loss and the surrounding grounds were badly scorched, crews were able to knock down the fire before it reached the house.

The Westmoore, Robbins, and High Falls Fire Departments all responded to the scene. They were assisted by Moore County EMS, the Moore County Sheriff’s Department, and Moore County Public Safety.
