A single-vehicle accident on a rainy afternoon on Friday shut down a small section of Midland Road in Southern Pines. Emergency units were dispatched shortly after 4 p.m. to the accident in the area of Midland Road at Clematis Road.
When the first units arrived they found a Toyota SUV had struck a tree in the median with significant damage to the front driver’s side. The female driver was the only occupant in the vehicle and was transported to Moore Regional Hospital with minor injuries.
Westbound Midland Road was shut down for a brief period of time while crews worked the scene and the roadway could be cleared.
Responding units were Southern Pines Fire Department, Moore County EMS and Southern Pines Police.
