The parish offers confession four days a week.

The Sunday Scoop: St. Anthony of Padua Catholic

St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church offers a variety of times and days to practice faith.

Their website shares its mission which is to know, love, and serve God here on earth and to ultimately be with God in heaven. The metaxu, time between birth and ascension into heaven, focuses on the celebration of the mass where members worship God.

Members believe when they hear the word of God and believe, charity flows through their evangelism.

“It is like in the Letter of James in the Bible. The acts we do are proof we know God,” Father John Augustine Kane said.

Father Kane of St. Anthony of Padua in Southern Pines welcomes visitors July 20, 2022.

Kane was ordained in 2016 and has been with St. Anthony of Padua for two years. He grew up in Arlington, Virginia, and when his parents moved to Raleigh, the bishop sent the seminary students to study in Philadelphia.

Kane now lives less than five miles from the parish and enjoys running in the evenings.

“One favorite verse is Psalm 107. They were men who fell sick and were at the gates of death, were healed, snatched from the grave and rejoiced with joy,” Kane said. “When I was ordained, I promised to read Psalms three times a day. It is what priests do.”

The parish offers many opportunities to serve for adult and family ministries. Outreach, missions, charities, group fellowship, and homeschool links may be viewed here
