Two people were life-flighted to an area trauma center after a two-vehicle accident in Vass Wednesday. Austin Houston, 20, of Vass, later passed away from his injuries.
The accident occurred on Lobelia Road just before 9 a.m. with one vehicle catching fire. The two victims were airlifted to UNC Hospitals, and two other patients were transported by ambulance to First Health Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.
Conditions of the other victims are unknown. According to State Highway Patrol, the accident is under investigation, and a report should be available soon.
Responding to the scene were Moore County Sheriff’s Department, Moore County EMS, Crains Creek Fire Department, and State Highway Patrol.
