A quick response from several local fire departments spared two homes from a fast-spreading outside fire.
The blaze started just before 5 p.m. on Thursday when a resident at a home in the 700 block of Morrison Bridge Road was burning some cardboard. The wind picked up, and the fire quickly spread out of control.
One small shed was destroyed. Another storage shed that was attached to a small home was also destroyed.

The grass fire had also spread up to the edge of one of the homes but was extinguished, minimizing the damage to just some melted siding.
Sandhills Sentinel spoke to one of the homeowners on scene and said he was very thankful for the quick response and great work by all for saving the two homes.
There was also a dog and a cat that were unscathed by the fire.
The N.C. Forestry Service was called, and a line was plowed around the fire area.

Moore County Fire Marshal was also on scene investigating the fire.
Responding units were Crains Creek Fire Department, Cypress Pointe Fire Department, Southern Pines Fire Department, Fort Liberty Fire Department and Moore County EMS.
