Two injured in crash near Southern Pines Waffle House

A two-vehicle crash in front of the Waffle House in Southern Pines left two people injured on Sunday evening. The crash happened shortly after 5 p.m. and resulted in the evening commute on U.S. 1 being rerouted and significant delays to traffic in surrounding areas.

Southern Pines Police are investigating the incident, which left one car sustaining heavy front-end damage and the other suffering significant damage to its front passenger-side quarter panel.

Two people were evaluated at the scene by emergency personnel and transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

No further details were released regarding the cause of the crash. 

The vehicles were blocking the roadway and debris from the crash littered the area. Traffic was impacted for several blocks as emergency crews worked to clear the wreckage, remove the vehicles, and investigate the crash. 

Southern Pines Fire and Rescue and Moore County EMS also responded.
