Two uninjured after van flips in Vass

Two construction workers heading home after a long day went for a slippery ride near Vass. The single-vehicle wreck occurred just before 6 p.m. Tuesday on Highway 1 near the intersection of Thurlow Lake Road.

According to authorities on scene, the men traveling in a Chevrolet work van had just left a construction site due to the rain from storms that swept through the area and were traveling southbound on Highway 1 Business when the driver lost control of the van on the wet road. It slid into a ditch, causing it to flip onto its roof.

Both men were out of the vehicle before emergency personnel arrived and did not require transport to the hospital.

N.C. Highway Patrol was on the scene investigating the crash and told Sandhills Sentinel that this was just one of a few traffic accidents they had responded to, mainly due to the weather.
