Two vehicles collided at N.C. 211 and Murdocksville Road intersection in Pinehurst on Friday night. Just after 8:30 p.m., first responders arrived on the scene to discover that the vehicles had T-boned and suffered extensive damage as a result.
The wreck occurred when a vehicle traveling on 211 collided with a vehicle turning onto the highway. Contributing factors were not disclosed.
The condition of the occupants is unknown at this time.Â
Eastbound 211 had to be rerouted onto Murdocksville Road while authorities investigated the scene, and first responders worked to clear the two vehicles from the road. Working on a dark stretch of highway, crews carried flashlights and wore headlamps to be able to inspect the vehicles.
Both vehicles sustained heavy damage to their front ends, shattered glass, and deployed air bags from the extreme impact.
The chaos on the scene was furthered by multiple vehicles attempting to circumvent barricades and parked emergency vehicles, resulting in squealing tires and vehicles stalling in the middle of the highway.
