The Southern Pines Police Department is warning the community of a phone scam that has been occurring in our area.
Scammers are contacting residents of Southern Pines informing them that they are from “U.S. Legal Support” with the Southern Pines Police Department, said the department in a news release.
Residents are being asked to pay money over the phone to take care of a “warrant for their arrest.” These calls are scams, and no money should be paid to these callers.
If you have questions about this scam or other requests for the collection of money by phone, please call the police department before you give money to anyone you don’t know or trust.
