Woman accused of hitting officer with car fleeing from police, then hits house

The Aberdeen Police Department announced the arrest of Alanna Peterson, 29, of Rockingham.

On March 4, Aberdeen officers and investigators responded to the area of Woodgreen Dr. and Bradford Dr., in reference to assisting the Moore County Sheriff’s Office, who was in pursuit of an individual wanted for active warrants from the Southern Pines Police Department for felony flee and elude arrest and reckless driving, obtained on March 2, said Aberdeen Police Department in a media release.

Upon arrival, Aberdeen units assisted the Moore County Sheriff’s Office, Pinehurst Police Department, and N.C. State Highway Patrol, with stopping the vehicle and detaining the subjects within it.

The media release said Peterson refused to stop and yield, despite numerous attempts from law enforcement. During the incident, Aberdeen officer and investigators assisted with the attempts to detain Peterson.

Peterson again failed to stop, and continued to flee, striking an Aberdeen officer with her vehicle, added the media release. Upon fleeing again, she collided with an occupied home on Woodgreen Dr.

Peterson was detained by Aberdeen units and arrested by the Moore County Sheriff’s Office. Warrants were obtained on Peterson for three counts of felony assault with a deadly weapon on a government employee, reckless driving to endanger, failure to maintain lane control, and unsafe movement.  

Warrants were also obtained on Peterson by the Moore County Sheriff’s Office for felony flee and elude arrest and resisting a public officer.

Peterson was taken into custody for her outstanding warrants, along with her new charges, and she was taken before a Moore County magistrate, where she was given a $160,000 secured bond.
