The Southern Pines Pool will be closed this summer according to the Town Council. The town was unsuccessful in recruiting enough certified lifeguards to staff the pool.
Town Manger, Reagan Parsons, stated, “We have been very public and open about the challenges we’ve had with trying to get the pool open this summer; however, we have not had a whole lot of luck.”
In addition, Parsons stated, “we’ve struck up a relationship with the Sandhills Sandsharks that could be positive for future years.” Their goal is to collaborate with Sandsharks, so the town can staff the pool and open next season.
