Aberdeen traffic stop leads drug arrest

Two men were arrested on drug charges and failure to pay child support following a traffic stop in Aberdeen on Monday.

Brandon Ray, 28, of Aberdeen, and Issac Barrett, 31, Cameron, were arrested after being pulled over in the 32000 block of U.S. Highway 15-501, according to a news advisory from Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields.

“Deputies initiated the traffic stop with knowledge that the driver of the vehicle had an outstanding warrant for arrest.”

Law enforcement found heroin, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia after a search of the vehicle.

Ray was charged with felony possession of schedule I controlled substance, maintaining a vehicle/dwelling place for controlled substances, simple possession of schedule VI controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana paraphernalia. His bond was set at $10,000.

Barrett was placed under a $17, 205.79 cash bond and charged with outstanding warrant (child support).

Suspects are scheduled to appear in Moore County District Court on November 5.
