APD announces arrest for larceny at Walmart

A Sanford man is accused of shoplifting at Walmart, according to Aberdeen Police Chief Brian Chavis.

Fifty-year-old Howard Badders was jailed without bond on charges of felony larceny from a merchant and shoplifting by concealment of goods.

“On August 18, 2024, Aberdeen Police Officers received a report of a larceny that was in progress at Walmart,” said Chavis. “Aberdeen Police Officers responded to the business and identified and detained Badders. They spoke with witnesses and reviewed video surveillance. Officers were able to verify that Badders had already removed an anti-theft device from store merchandise and concealed additional merchandise in a bag in an attempt to commit larceny.”

Defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
