Authorities responded to a water rescue call for a duck on Sunday.
Aberdeen firefighters and police were able to catch the duck at Aberdeen Lake after it was entangled in fishing line.
“One thing that is certain about our job at the fire department is that you never know what type of call you will be responding to,” said Aberdeen Fire and Rescue on social media Tuesday.
They managed to cut the duck free and released it back into the water.

“We would like to encourage everyone to please use the newly installed containers around the lake to properly dispose of any discarded fishing line,” said Aberdeen Fire and Rescue.
Girl Scout Mollie Colasacco earned her Silver Award by building six closed-system PVC pipe recycling stations with a generous depository that were recently installed at Aberdeen Lake and Ray’s Mill Park.

Colasacco’s goal is to save wildlife and keep our parks clean.
She was recognized by the Aberdeen Town Board in September for her recycling containers.
