BGCS receives donation from Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation

The Boys & Girls Club of the Sandhills (BGCS) received $1,700 from the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation to help feed neighbors in need. This donation will help BGCS to provide meals to help feed over 600 members who enjoy two meals and snacks daily during summer camp at its four area clubs.

“We truly appreciate the collaboration with Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation program to assist us in helping to ensure the kids in our programs have a healthy nutritious meal each day,” stated Steve Kastner, CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of the Sandhills.” This foundation gift helps us provide what is in some cases the only meal our kids receive each day.”

BGCS provides safe places, caring staff, volunteers, mentors, and life-enhancing programs to prepare kids and teens for great futures after school and through the summer. Summer camp activities include arts and crafts, sports and recreation, career readiness, and academic activities to combat summer learning loss.

The Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation is committed to supporting families facing food insecurity across its 10-state footprint. Established in 2001, the foundation provides financial support for programs and organizations dedicated to feeding local neighbors in the communities it serves. Since its inception, the foundation has awarded more than $17.8 million in grants.
