An accident in Pinehurst shut down two lanes of Midland Road Tuesday. The accident occurred on Midland Road near Dr Neal Road shortly after 10 a.m.Â
Witnesses say they saw an SUV swerve and hit a tree on the left side of the eastbound lanes of Midland Road and come across both lanes before hitting another tree head-on and resting at the edge of a small embankment.
Eastbound lanes of Midland Road were shut down briefly while the patients were being cared for. One eastbound lane was closed for an extended time while a tow truck removed the SUV.
The driver and a small child were both transported to Moore Regional Hospital for minor injuries and evaluation, according to Pinehurst Police Department.
The SUV suffered heavy front-end damage.
The exact cause of the accident is being investigated by the Pinehurst Police Department.
Responding to the scene were Pinehurst Police Department, Pinehurst Fire and Rescue, and Moore County EMS.
