Beverly Stewart from the Pinehurst, Southern Pines, Aberdeen Area Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) was awarded the “Patsy B. Smith Award (Outstanding Affiliate Member)” by the Association Executives of North Carolina (AENC) at their Annual Meeting in Greenville, NC on July 23.

The Patsy B. Smith Award is the highest award presented in the Affiliate or CVB membership category.

While recognizing outstanding professionalism and exemplary service to the association community, the award also recognizes a member’s contribution to his or her employing organization and to other professional organizations.

Beverly Stewart has been a member of AENC since 1995, serving on numerous committees, and on the Board of Directors from 2000-2002 and again in 2015-2017.

She brings her expertise and professionalism to the AENC table to the benefit of all members of the organization.

“This is totally unexpected and a thrill to be recognized by the AENC members. I’ve worked with so many of them over the years. It’s an honor to receive this award,” says Stewart.

Stewart was nominated for the award by Daniel Wilson, Executive Director of the NC Rural Water Association.

“Beverly is always among the first to volunteer and has provided the support of the CVB,” says Wilson. “Her outgoing personality and glowing smile compliments the atmosphere of AENC and exemplifies what hospitality is all about.”

As Vice President of Sales for the CVB, Stewart is one the reasons groups have returned to the Pinehurst, Southern Pines and Aberdeen area time after time.

“Beverly exemplifies what a CVB professional should be,” says Wilson. “She is a true ambassador for the Home of American Golf. As a lifetime citizen to the area she represents, her passion and enthusiasm for the Moore County area is unprecedented.”

Recently Stewart was named Interim President and CEO of the CVB, an indication of the trust the CVB Board has in her and her ability.
