For Perry Davis, storytelling is more than a profession—it’s a creative outlet. As the owner and founder of Davis Video Productions, Davis has spent the last 30 years behind the camera, where he’s been capturing the moments that matter. From television commercials to wedding videos, Davis has done it all and personally sees that every client’s vision is brought to life.
Davis launched his business in 1994 from the Harvard Building in the Village of Pinehurst, where his company still operates today. However, over the years, Davis Video Productions has traveled not just across the Sandhills but statewide, too, to deliver top-tier video services.
After graduating from the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Journalism & Media, Davis’ sights were initially set on a career in television news.
“My intent was to work in television news, but unexpectedly had the opportunity to buy some cameras and production equipment,” recalled Davis, reflecting on his start in the world of videography. “I decided to see what working for myself could bring, instead.”
It was a venture that paid off. Now, what sets Davis Video Productions apart from other production companies is Davis’ drive to exceed client expectations.
“We like to think we go the extra mile to serve the customer by creating content that matches the client’s vision and is done as economically as possible,” Davis explained. “This is true whether the client wants a TV commercial, a training video, a wedding video, or anything in between.”
For Davis, wedding videography stands out as one of the most rewarding aspects of his work. “Our wedding videography is where you really get to give the customer a meaningful, lifelong memory to cherish,” he said. “In fact, I find shooting weddings across the state is the most enjoyable part of the business.”
Over the years, the company’s award-winning wedding videography has taken the Davis Video Productions team to venues across the Carolinas.
Beyond videography, Davis Video Productions offers a service that’s becoming increasingly popular: analog-to-digital transfers. “Customers can relive and archive recorded memories by converting their old formats to today’s digital files,” Davis explained.
From VHS tapes and cassettes to vinyl records and audio tapes, Davis’ services can help safeguard home videos, recordings, and memories that are otherwise irreplaceable.
Davis’ work isn’t just about business—it’s about giving back. The company offers discounts to active military members and first responders. Davis is very passionate about this and told Sandhills Sentinel, “It’s just a little way for the business to give back to the community and to say thank you to folks out there doing some very difficult jobs.”
When he’s not behind the camera or at the editing desk, Davis enjoys a quieter life on a large horse farm nestled between Pinehurst and Carthage. A lifelong Moore County resident, he attended Episcopal Day School, The O’Neal School, and Pinecrest High School before heading to Chapel Hill.
These days, he can be found enjoying the farm life, riding horses, caring for animals, and maintaining the property.
As Davis Video Productions celebrates three decades of storytelling, Davis appreciates the career that’s taken him to new places—literally and figuratively. “Having a job that allows me to travel occasionally and do a little something different every day is really an enjoyable part of being a videographer and editor,” he conceded.
