“On Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at approximately 4:41 P. M., Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to an area near 450 Doubs Chapel Road in West End to a report of a found body,” said Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields in a press release. “Upon arrival, Deputies discovered the deceased body of 38-year-old Christopher Edward Damico of West End located in a remote area off the roadway.”

Fields said an autopsy by the North Carolina Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death.

This is the second body found in Moore County within three days.

On Sunday morning, a body was discovered on train tracks near the Lakeview community.

In a press release, Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields said deputies were called to the remote area just before 10 a.m. to find the body of a Lee County man.

“Upon arrival, Deputies located the body of a deceased man,” said Fields. “After investigation, Deputies determined that the man was 42-year-old Ashley Dale Spivey of Sanford. The body has been sent to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for autopsy to determine cause of death.”

Anyone with information on either case is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office Crime Tip line at 910-947-4444.
