Emergency crews responded to a house fire in the 2600 block of Murdocksville Road close to N.C. Highway 73 in Eastwood Thursday afternoon. Everyone inside the home made it safely out, but the family’s beloved dog died as a result of the fire.

Smoke and flames were showing when the first fire crews arrived on the scene. They aggressively attacked the fire and had it under control within a minutes. The home suffered extensive damage, and fire crews remained on the scene for quite some time working to make sure the fire was completely out in all areas and attempting to clear debris from the home. The Red Cross was called to assist the family.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Responding to the fire were units from Eastwood, West End, Pinehurst, Carthage, Seven Lakes, Moore County EMS, and Moore County Sheriff’s Department.
