Family, dog escape Taylortown house fire

A family was displaced after a fire broke out in their Taylortown home on Thursday morning. Shortly after 11:15 a.m., one of the occupants called 911 and alerted local fire departments to the house fire on Taylor Avenue, reporting smoke and visible flames in one of the bedrooms.

Authorities on scene confirmed no one was injured or transported to a hospital as a result of the fire. All occupants of the house, including a dog, were able to escape safely.

Firefighters arrived quickly and contained the fire to the bedroom before extinguishing it. However, the brick house suffered extensive damage. In the aftermath, much of the interior was blackened from smoke, water, and fire damage, and windows were shattered.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation at this time. No further details were disclosed.

The American Red Cross arrived to assist the family, which was displaced due to the extensive damage to the home.

The Pinehurst Fire Department, West End Fire Department, Aberdeen Fire Department, Eastwood Fire Department, Moore County EMS, Moore County Sheriff Department, the American Red Cross, and Duke Energy responded to the scene.
