Labor Day crash in Carthage sends 3 to hospital

A two-vehicle collision slowed Labor Day travelers through Carthage on Monday afternoon. The crash happened around 3 p.m. at the crossover where N.C. 24-27 intersects U.S. Highway 15-501 near Bojangles.

According to authorities on scene, the crash occurred when a Toyota sedan attempting to cross the intersection pulled into the path of a Subaru traveling south.

The vehicles collided nearly head-on before coming to a stop in the ditch. Both sustained heavy front-end damage.

The Carthage Police Department is investigating the crash.
