FirstHealth of the Carolinas is dedicated to raising awareness of heart disease, the No. 1 killer of Americans, and congenital heart defects, the most common type of birth defect in the world.

In support, they will be providing newborns born at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital with little red hats throughout the month of February.

Knitted or crocheted by volunteers from throughout the country, the hats were donated by the American Heart Association, in connection with The Children’s Heart Foundation, to hospitals participating in “Little Hats, Big Hearts,” an American Heart Month program designed to empower moms to live heart-healthy lives while helping their children to do the same.

Pictured with the red hats from left are Sandra Mullin, R.N., (Clinical Director, FirstHealth Women and Children); Kacie Kennedy (American Heart Association); Beth Hutchinson, R.N., (Administrative Director, FirstHealth Women and Children); and Liz Mileshko (American Heart Association).
