Man accused of using stolen credit card at area businesses

A 52-year-old man from Raeford is accused of using a stolen credit card at area businesses.

Aberdeen Police Chief Brian Chavis said in a press release that his department was made aware of fraudulent activity involving a stolen credit card between July 8-10.

Rodney McCrimmon was arrested in connection to the investigation.

“Aberdeen Patrol Officers, along with Aberdeen Investigators, responded to over a dozen businesses within Aberdeen city limits, and obtained video surveillance in order to investigate the fraudulent activities,” said Chavis. “It was also determined that the stolen credit card was used in Southern Pines, as well as Raeford. On July 18, 2024, Aberdeen Investigators identified the suspect as McCrimmon. On July 19, 2024, Aberdeen Investigators obtained warrants on McCrimmon for 14 counts of Felony obtain property by false pretense, Felony identity theft, Felony financial card theft, and Felony financial card fraud.”

McCrimmon was arrested for his outstanding warrants on July 23.

He was placed at the Moore County Detention Center under a $5,000 secured bond. He is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
