Crews from several Moore County agencies responded to a fire Thursday afternoon that burned a structure, destroyed a vehicle, and threatened nearby homes in Pinebluff.
The fire was reported shortly after 4 p.m. in the 700 block of West Philadelphia Avenue and was initially called in as an outdoor fire.
Authorities at the scene told Sandhills Sentinel that the caller first contacted Pinebluff Fire and Rescue directly and reported an outdoor fire threatening a structure on her property. Firefighters advised the caller to contact 911 while crews prepared to respond.
Shortly afterward, the fire spread to a building. As firefighters arrived and worked to access the fire, which was set back on the property and in a wooded area, a Nissan van also caught fire.
Crews deployed hoses and quickly worked to contain the flames. Although several nearby structures and homes were threatened, firefighters were able to bring the fire under control and prevent it from spreading further.

Part of West Philadelphia Ave. was completely shut down while crews worked the scene.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but authorities said it may have been related to a previously burned outdoor fire that rekindled.
From on scene, Pinebluff Fire Chief Jonathan Richardson reminds Moore County residents that a burn ban remains in effect. Richardson said that despite recent rain, Moore County and much of the state remain dry, creating dangerous conditions for outdoor burning.
Moore County EMS responded as a precaution, but no injuries were reported, and no one was transported.
Agencies responding to the scene included Pinebluff Fire and Rescue, Southern Pines Fire Department, Fort Bragg Fire and Rescue, Moore County EMS, and the Moore County Sheriff’s Office.
