Man arrested in attempted robbery of convenience store

A Robbins man was arrested after attempting to rob a convenience store on Highway 15-501 in Pinehurst.

In a news release, Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields said John Gwyn, 38, demanded the clerk give him money from the cash register at Tommy’s Crown Convenience Store on Wednesday.

“The clerk dialed 911 and responding deputies were able to locate and detain the suspect on scene,” said Fields.

Gwyn was placed at the Moore County Detention Center under a $25,000 secured bond on charges of attempted common law robbery.

He is due in court on Dec. 1 and is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
