Moore County remembers 9/11

Southern Pines fire and police departments held a 9/11 Memorial Ceremony at the Sunrise Outdoor Theater on Saturday morning. Bagpipes were played during a portion of the ceremony and could be heard throughout downtown Southern Pines.

In Vass, a small group gathered at Cameron-Irby Memorial Park to place flags and a wreath in honor of the 20th anniversary.  Members of Cypress Pointe Fire Department and Vass Police Department attended. U.S. Army Chaplain LTC Brian Koyn led the ceremony, and Vass Police Officer Haddock, Cypress Pointe Fire Captain Wilson, and U.S. Army MSG Larry Vacek laid the wreath in honor of the lives lost.
