Multiple injuries reported in crash near Pinehurst

A two-vehicle collision in Pinehurst on Saturday injured multiple people. The accident happened just after 5 p.m. on U.S. Highway 15-501 at the intersection with Lea Road in front of Tommy’s Crown gas station.

A Volkswagen passenger car and Ford passenger van collided leaving the Volkswagen off the roadway with heavy damage and the van with significant front-end damage.

Both male and female occupants in the Volkswagen had injuries not believed to be life-threatening.
Several occupants in the van had minor injuries.

Air Care was initially called to fly one patient to a hospital but was later canceled.

A second rescue out of Southern Pines Fire Department was dispatched but was also canceled as they were arriving on the scene.

Highway 15-501 was down to one lane of travel for a brief period while crews worked the scene.

Highway Patrol was on scene investigating the accident.

Responding to the scene were Pinehurst Fire Department, Southern Pines Fire Department, Moore County EMS, Moore County Sheriff’s Office and N.C. State Highway Patrol.
