obituary Benny Ross Jones

Benny Ross Jones, 75, passed peacefully on September 6, 2020 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital surrounded by his wife and children.

Benny was born March, 12, 1945 in Moore County to the late Amos Hue Tee and Mamie McLawhorn Jones.

Benny worked at Proctor Silex, Southern Pines, NC, Eagle Electric, Sanford, NC, and Hunter Industries, Cary, NC in the maintenance of injection molding machines. He came out of retirement to work at the Seven Lakes Prescription Shoppe delivering prescriptions to customers. Having never met a stranger, he enjoyed talking and joking with coworkers, friends, and soon to be friends. He loved his wife, children, and family.

His priority was caring for his family and anyone who needed a helping hand. He fixed things around the home and yard. He enjoyed listening to bluegrass and 1950’s country music.  He loved country cooking and didn’t mind searching back country roads to find good collards.  He also enjoyed driving those country roads just to see the country, especially his old home place in Eagle Springs, NC.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Jones was preceded in death by two infant brothers and a sister, Verna Pardon of Mocksville, NC. He is survived by his loving wife, Hazel Faircloth Jones of the home, a son Benny Ross Jones, Jr. (Pamela) of Aberdeen, NC, and a daughter Kimberly Mayhall (Jason) of West End, NC; surviving siblings are Lottie Bowman, Winton Salem, NC, (Lena) Gerline  Martin, Matthews, NC, and James Jones (Kathleen), Burlington, NC, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Additionally, he was loved and will be greatly missed by his family, Maxx the Pug, and Teddy his Yorkshire Terrier grandpup.

Benny fought a brief but painful battle with an aggressive pancreatic cancer.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to cancer research or any cancer cause of your choice.
